My work is strongly rooted in nature as metaphors for my internal dialogs. Drawing Rain is a performance installation using the theme of rain as a metaphor for my inner emotional world, conveying the transience of feelings through the organic action of drawing. Custom software allows live drawing in the computer to generate the experience of organic rain visuals and sounds of birds, rain and thunder.
The act of drawing is very personal and private, an inner dialog between my hands, eyes and mind. I see the activity as a sanctuary, a place to get away from the daily grind. In response to the notion of intimacy and privacy, a veil of moving rain divides the space between the audience and myself. My silhouette is seen from time to time with thunder and warm flickering lights, creating a theatrical and mysterious presence. The ambience is dark, tranquil intertwined with thunderous sound turbulence and warm lighting.
